How the directory works
- Choose your filter axes. Garment family (Iro and Buba, Aso-Ebi, Abaya, Kaftan, Lehenga, Sherwani, modest evening, contemporary), fabric (Aso-oke, Adire, Talli, Phulkari, brocade, lace, denim, silk, jacquard), cultural register (Nigerian, Modest, Gulf, South Asian, Diaspora fusion, Western contemporary), location.
- Review the listings. Each tailor lists specialisation, location, lead time, price band, and sample work.
- Contact directly. The directory is a referral surface; conversations and commission terms run between you and the tailor. Akwa does not intermediate the booking.
- Bring a Tech Pack. The Akwa Tech Pack is the brief format vetted tailors expect; arriving with a Tech Pack accelerates the conversation by orders of magnitude.

For tailors: how to be listed
Listing in the Akwa Tailor Directory requires an active Akwa Tailor Pro subscription. Apply through the Tailor Pro programme; Akwa Studio reviews sample work, references, and cultural specialisation. Listings are not paid placements; vetting is for fit and quality, not pay-to-play visibility.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Akwa Tailor Directory?
A curated directory of tailors and ateliers vetted by Akwa Studio. Filter by garment family, fabric expertise, cultural register, and city to find the tailor whose specialisation matches your commission.
Does Akwa take a commission?
No. The Directory is a referral surface; commission terms run directly between the customer and the tailor. Akwa Studio (B2B custom commissions through Akwa) is a separate channel with its own pricing.
Can I list my tailoring business?
Yes, with an active Tailor Pro subscription. Apply through the Tailor Pro programme; Akwa Studio reviews sample work and cultural specialisation before listing.
Does the Directory recommend tailors?
Yes, in two ways. First, listings can be filtered to surface tailors whose specialisation matches a query. Second, Akwa Studio offers concierge-style routing for B2B customers who want Akwa to pick the partner.
